Farmer Producer Organisations

SFARD works as a Cluster-Based Business Organisation nurturing 51 Farmer Producer Companies across the North East and Uttar Pradesh.

Overview

Under the Central Sector Scheme for the Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs, SFARD mobilises farmers into producer companies and hand-holds them from registration through business planning, promotional sales and market linkage. We currently support 51 FPCs/FPOs across Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, with implementing agencies including NCDC, NERAMAC, SIMA, NECTAR, NABARD and The Assam Co-operative Apex Bank.

What we do

  • 1Farmer mobilisation, baseline surveys and FPC registration
  • 2Business plan preparation and equity grant applications
  • 3Exposure visits and one-day trainings for FPO board members
  • 4Promotional sales of farmer-fresh, chemical-free produce
  • 5Farmer outlets and market linkage for FPO produce
  • 6Convergence with SMAM, MIDH and PMKSY subsidies

Outcomes so far

  • 51 FPCs/FPOs managed as CBBO across four states
  • About 110 metric tons of fruits, spices and vegetables sold in FY 2025-26, earning roughly ₹80 lakh for member farmers
  • 5 farmer outlets running in Sikkim, Manipur and Assam, with 6 more under construction
  • ₹15 lakh equity grant secured by Mayo Farmer FPC
  • Around 100 hectares brought under high-demand crop diversification
  • 30% average rise in shareholder participation by the third year
