Integrated makhana (fox nut), fish and water chestnut cultivation in Assam's wetlands under NABARD's Farm Sector Promotion Fund.
Overview
The Assam Makhana Value Chain Project introduces makhana cultivation in low-lying wetlands and ponds, integrated with fish and water chestnut farming. Farmers in Biswanath and neighbouring districts receive seed material, fingerlings, training and market linkage so that unused water bodies become productive assets.
